Roy Herbert Purvis, 85, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025, at his residence in French Camp. He was born in Greenville to Levi and Ruth Crowder Purvis on November 20, 1940. Prior to his first retirement in 1994, he owned and operated a welding supply business in Greenville for many years. Once retired, he and his family moved to the French Camp area, where in 1997 he began his career with French Camp Academy, serving in many areas, with his most recent title being FCA Plant and Property Manager. He served FCA faithfully during his time and worked on many different ventures and projects. He was instrumental in the construction and development of the Living Stones Building, located next to the presbyterian church, on which he was project manager. He served his community in many ways, including his love of woodworking and his involvement with the Community Club, which is responsible for many of the activities and events held in and around French Camp. He was an active and faithful member of French Camp Presbyterian Church, where he has formerly served as deacon.

He is survived by his daughter, Kim Ethridge (James) of Batesville; three sons, Len Purvis (Billie Whit) of Meridian, Scott Purvis of Memphis, TN, and Jason Purvis (Rachel) of French Camp; brother, Ray Purvis (Jane) of Leland; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Greener Purvis; second wife, Rosemary Ellington Purvis; and two brothers, Curtis Purvis and Charles Purvis.


Visitation will be at French Camp Presbyterian Church on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM followed by the funeral service starting at 2:00 PM.
